Built for a family that simply didn't want to be apart. 

This build started with a simple idea: keep the family together.

For this close-knit Helensvale family, living apart wasn't something they were willing to accept. With parents who were deeply woven into the fabric of daily family life, the decision to build a Granny Flat wasn't about practicality alone, it was about love, connection, and making sure the people who matter most are never more than a backyard away.

BCC Homes was brought in to make it happen. And while the outcome is something we're incredibly proud of, the road to get there took real work.

A challenge worth solving

Early in the project, siting issues on the block required us to pause, problem-solve, and commission additional pre-construction reports to satisfy council approval requirements. It would have been easy to give up or scale back the design. Instead, we worked closely with the family every step of the way, keeping them informed, managing expectations, and pushing through until we landed on an outcome that exceeded what they'd originally hoped for.

The result was a 80m2 two-bedroom home that feels generous, bright and genuinely liveable. 

The open-plan kitchen and living area is the heart of the home, white cabinetry, stunning feature tile splashback, stone benchtops, dishwasher, and views straight through to the trees. Warm timber-look flooring runs throughout the main living spaces, with plush carpet in both bedrooms.

The master bedroom opens directly onto the 12.5m2 hardwood alfresco deck, elevated above the lush Helensvale bushland with nothing but treetops and blue sky in every direction. It's the kind of space you didn't know you needed until you're standing on it.

The bathroom is equally considered with a frameless shower and teal tile niche, and clean, modern fixtures throughout. A separate WC adds the everyday practicality that makes multi-generational living easy.
